There are multiple styles of text animation presets that can be easily applied to a text layer. Open your Effects and Presets panel, open Animation Presets, and then Text.

Despite having deep manual controls to make your text do almost anything your imagination can dream up, AE comes with a surprisingly large and decent collection of presets.
